Then, Total wages = Rs 20000 x 50 = Rs 10,00,000

If mean of then 51 employee's salary = Rs 21,000

Then, Total wages = Rs 21000 x 51 = Rs 10,71,000

The salary of the new person joined the group is Rs (10,00,000-10,71,000)  = Rs 71,000  (Answer).

Mean = Sum of observations/Number of observations
20000 = x/50
x = 50 × 20000 = 1,000,000


Now, if one employee is added,
Mean = 21000
21000 = y/51
y = 51 × 21000 = 1,071,000


Now, here y = x + salary of the new employee
1,071,000 = 1,000,000 + Salary of new employee
Salary of new employee = 1,071,000 - 1,000,000
= 71,000
