Step-by-step explanation:

mean=(y-2a+y-a+y+y+a+y+a+y+2a)/6

=(6y+a)/6

=y+(a/6)

Question :- find mean of y-2a , y-a, y, y+a, y+a, y+2a ?

Solution :-

The mean is the average of the numbers. .

→ Mean = Average = (sum of observations) /(Total Number of observations.)

we have given that,

→ Observations are = (y - 2a) , (y - a) ,y, (y + a), (y + a) and (y + 2a).

→ Total Number of observations are = 6

So,

sum of Observations = (y - 2a) + (y - a) + y + (y + a) + (y + a) + (y + 2a) = (y + y + y + y + y + y) + (a + a + 2a - 2a - a) = 6y + (4a - 3a) = (6y + a)

Therefore,

Mean = (sum of observations) /(Total Number of observations.)

→ Mean = { (6y + a) / 6 } (Ans.)
