It is an imaginary navigatory line that runs on the surface of the earth from north pole to south pole and at the same time marks the change of date of one calender to another.It is located at about 180 degrees east or west prior to the GM.
If you cross the date line east, you subtract a day, whereas if you move west , you add a day.
