An organization is an arrangement of energy to produce a result. An organization can be complex or it can be linear. This is a difference that makes a difference.
Organization as an entity is distinct from, but closely related to, organization as “the way that things are organized”. So I use the term “enterprise” for organization as an entity. The unifying phenomenon is that both have a purpose. Organization has no useful meaning if there is no intended purpose.
