Meaning of Satyagraha:
To strongly follow the truth and resist something wrong in a non-violent manner.
Significance of satyagraha:
- This concept was introduced by the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi during the national movement of freedom. In 1906, it was first used in South Africa against the British colonial government and it worked very well.
- In 1917 Mahatma Gandhi started the satyagraha in India from the district of Champaran.
- Subsequently, the practice of satyagraha included fastings, boycotts of British products and became one of the most important factors for attaining freedom in 1947.
