Pancreas is a compound gland, i.e. both exocrine and endocrine. It is an elongated organ. This is situated between the limbs of the U-shaped duodenum.

Compound elongated organ means the organs which have ducts to transport their secretion and also they can pour the secretions directly into the blood stream . Actually that organ act as both endocrine and exocrine gland . Eg . Pancreas. Pancreas have duct and also pour it's secretion directly into the blood ( eg insulin) . I hope you get this now .
