The words cosmo  and  astro  mean something related to the Space and Universe.

A person who is trained to travel (as a member pilot of crew) in spaceships which travel in space and explore the universe, planets, stars is called a cosmonaut.  Originally the word meant to mean the Russian pilot flying the space  crafts in space.

Now it means any such person, man or woman.
