India is a secular state . This means that the state protects all religions equally and does not itself uphold any religion as the State religion. The Indian Constitution mandates that the Indian state be secular. According to the constitution only a secular state can realise its objectives .

first of all let's know what is secularism. it means that their is no language that is officially promoted. every citizen have the right to follow the religion they wish to,and Indian secularism means ,as India is a secular country and the constitution of India provides right to religion, that's why there is no officially promoted religion and we are free from religion.
