Answer:

It is a powder like substance used generally by Doctors to make the broken bones in a fixed position because it becomes stone hard when comes in contact with water.

CaSO4. 1/2H20 +h20------->CaSO4. 2h20

here CaSO4. 1/27h2o is plaster of Paris and CaSO4. 2h20 is gypsum.

Plaster of Paris is a fine white powder formed by the heating of gypsum..

Mainly used in the manufacture of statues , moulds, etc
