The poem Iron was something that had a very strong message behind it. It starts out with describing 'jackies' clambered all over guns made of steel on board a ship. “Glory of tan faces, tousled hair, white teeth…” ... “Pointed from war ships In the name of the war god,” says the second and third lines.
