Testes (singular testis) are located in the scrotal sac of the male reproductive system. Their essential function is to produce sperms ( male gametes ) in the male reproductive system.

Ovaries ( singular ovary ) are located beside the uterus. Their essential function is to produce eggs ( female gametes ) in the female reproductive system.

Both these glands take a major role in sexual reproduction.
