Explanation:

Childhood" by Marcus Natten reflects on the loss of innocence as a child grows up into an adult. In the final stanza the poet relents the fact that his childhood is no more than a distant memory. He is unable to recollect the innocence of his infancy. Thus, he feels that his childhood has withdrawn into a "forgotten place". As he grew up he came to understand that there is no place for innocence in what we call reality. In order to become a part of the adult-world his childhood innocence receded to some corner of his memory. Sometimes he can recollect certain images from his childhood, but when he compares it with reality, it remains only a memory.
