Today's young generation has a thirst for betterment. Like the age old saying goes,"the grass is always greener on the other side." Long since the western powers slaved us, we are still thriving to become them. We are still their slaves. And in this thirst to become like the west, we forget what we already have in store. The magnificent culture we have inherited is envied by many powers around the world.

The sentence simply means that the young generation is trying to imitate the west in simply all spheres of life including food, clothing, lifestyle and whatnot, meanwhile ignoring all the tremendous cultural wealth we already have in store.
