Weathering is the process of breaking of rocks into soil particles with the help of external and internal forces like wind and water.
There are two types of weathering:
Chemical Weathering - In this the chemical composition of rocks changes due to chemical reaction. Eg, acid rain, the chemicals secreted by plants etc.
Physical Weathering - In this, physical forces act on rocks to break them eg. wind, the roots of plants the grow in rocks also break them etc.
