Sigma bonds can occur between any kind of atomic orbitals.This means sigma bond(single bond occurs in any kind of atomic orbitals like s,p,d,f and it doesnot depends on type or kind of orbital).

The only requirement is that the atomic orbital overlap happens directly between the nuclei of atoms.This means (It only depends on overlaping that is it must be directly between the nuclei of atoms nothing but linear).
