ANSWER

The vernier calipers found in the laboratory incorporates a main scale and a sliding vernier scale which allows readings to the nearest 0.02 mm. This instrument may be used to measure outer dimensions of objects (using the main jaws), inside dimensions (using the smaller jaws at the top), and depths (using the stem).

Answer:

✳️The smallest possible reading of a vernier caliper is 0.01 cm.

✳️You can use a mircometer to measure small (>2.5 cm) diameters that can fit within the 'jaws' of the screw-gauge can be measured to within a hundredth of a millimeter. Close the jaws of the micrometer and check for a zero error. Place the wire between the anvil and spindle end as indicated in the diagram.
