Measures of some parts in the following figures are indicated. By appliying, ASA congruence rule, state which pair of triangle are congruent. In casevof congruence. Write the result in symbolic form.​

It is easily solvable by AAS. But for ASA,

  • Angle COA = Angle BOD (Vertically opposite angles) ----(1)
  • Angle OAC= Angle OBD = ( each 90°) ----(2)

Adding equation 1 and 2,

COA+ OAC = BOD+ OBD. ------(3)

Subtracting equation (3) from 180°,

180-(COA+ OAC) = 180-(BOD+ OBD. )

==> Angle ACO= Angle ODB

In ∆ AOC and ∆ BOD,

  • Angle COA = Angle BOD (Vertically opposite angles)
  • OC=OD (given)
  • Angle ACO= Angle ODB (proved)
  • Therefore, they are congruent by ASA.
