The extent of damage caused by humans to forests and natural resources is overwhelming. It is a good thing that so many NGOs are engaging in reducing deforestation, promoting wildlife and, encouraging forest plantations to conserve the resources. It’s high time we play our part in conservation of natural and wildlife resources. There are many ways in which we can do this. I have shared some of them below.

1. Share valuable information on deforestation with your friends, family members, etc. It may seem awkward at first, but it shouldn’t bother you. Responsible people don’t give up on being what they are.

2. Join NGOs and forest and wildlife preservation groups that aim to conserve these natural resources. It’s good to have more people contributing in this endeavor as it will bring in greater impact.

3. Reduce the usage of non-renewable resources and artificial products such as polythene and plastic. Instead of these products, recycle more and re-use products. If we reuse products, we will be less dependent on the environment, trees specially. This would also lead to reduction in use of raw materials from the forests.

Some methods that can practiced by farmers to save the natural resources.

4. Farming techniques like crop rotation, mixed farming, insecticide, pesticides and proper use of fertilizers should be practiced by the farmers. They must increase the use of organic fertilizers, manures, and bio fertilizers.

5. We must also encourage the installation of rainwater harvesting in societies, utilize renewable sources like solar cooker and pumps as much as possible.

6. Use water saving forms of irrigation methods like sprinkling irrigation and drip irrigation to save water and avoid evaporation.
