Estradiol has different function. Its a nuclear hormone. It acts on receptors in the cell membrane that are involved in the regulation of transcription. Erα or Erβ are the receptors that are interacted by estradiol.

Other hormones are involved in the production of other enzymes involved in the metabollic pathways.
