Mechanism of hereditary changes:

  • Heredity is the transfer of genes from one generation to other generation.

Hereditary changes can take place due to following changes:

  • Natural Selection- One allele is permanent for the population as it gives a survival advantage.
  • Genetic Drift- Sudden change in a less population due to which genetic variability is decreased.
  • However, sometimes rapid changes in genes taken place due to a method known as mutation. Thus, hereditary changes are accountable for the evolution.
