This is movement of air into and out of the lungs. Breathing supplies oxygen to the alveoli, and eliminates carbon dioxide. The main muscles involved inbreathing are the intercostal muscles and the diaphragm. ... Breathingdepends upon changes in pressure and volume in the thoracic cavity.

Ans:
Mechanism of respiration in human beings.....
[The lungs themselves Can neither draw in a no push it out it has a flat and muscle called as diaphragm. helps the lungs in moving air in and out of them...
when the diaphragm flattens and the volume of the chest cavity is increased and its internal pressure decreases and the earth from the outside rushes into the lungs this is called respiration then reverse occurs this is called expiration...
lungs are protected by two membranes called pleura .This protects the lungs from injury and also from mechanical shocks.....
