Answer:

Median of the data : 16, 19, 27, 10, 5, 7, 12, 15.  is  13.5

Explanation:

data : 16, 19, 27, 10, 5, 7, 12, 15.

first, we have to arrange the data in either ascending or descending order

            5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 16, 19, 27

total number of observations, n = 8

if n is odd, the median is given by the middle term ie, (\frac{n+1}{2} )^{th} term.

if n is even, the median is the average of the middle two terms.

ie,(\frac{n}{2} )^{th} and (\frac{n}{2}+1 )^{th} terms.

here,

          (\frac{n}{2} )^{th} term = 4th term = 12

    (\frac{n}{2}+1 )^{th} term = 5th term = 15

      median=\frac{(\frac{n}{2}+1 )^{th}term + (\frac{n}{2} )^{th}term}{2}

⇒                 = (12+15) /2 = 27/2 = 13.5

hence, the required answer is 13.5.
