Given:

The scores are 1,3,5,7,9,....,99.

To find:

The median of the scores.

Solution:

We have, the scores

1, 3, 5, 7, 9, ...., 99

These are the odd numbers from 1 to 100.

We know that, there are 50 odd numbers from 1 to 100.

So, number of observations: n = 50, which is even

Median=\dfrac{(\dfrac{n}{2})\text{th term}+(\dfrac{n}{2}+1)\text{th term}}{2}

Putting n=50, we get

Median=\dfrac{(\dfrac{50}{2})\text{th term}+(\dfrac{50}{2}+1)\text{th term}}{2}

Median=\dfrac{25\text{th term}+26\text{th term}}{2}

Median=\dfrac{49+51}{2}

Median=\dfrac{100}{2}

Median=50

Therefore, the median of the given scores is 50.
