Given:

Medicine is packed in boxes each weighing 5 kg 600 g.

To find:

How many such boxes can be loaded in a van that cannot carry beyond 260 kg.

Solution:

The total weight that the van can load in it = 260 kg

The weight of each box of medicines is,

= 5 kg 600 g

= 5kg + \frac{600}{1000} kg  . . . . . [∵ 1 kg = 1000 g]

= 5kg + 0.6 kg

= 5.6 kg

Now,

The maximum no. of boxes that the van can load in it is,

= \frac{Total \:weight}{Weight \:of\:1\:box}

= \frac{260\:kg}{5.6\:kg}

= \frac{2600\:kg}{56\:kg}

= 46.428

\bold{46} (approximately)

Thus, approximately 46 boxes can be loaded into the van.
