Answer:

Explanation:

Cathedrals were the largest buildings in medieval Europe. They were built at the centre of towns and cities across the continent. Between the 10th and 13th centuries, most European cathedrals were built in the Romanesque style. Romanesque cathedrals are solid and substantial.

Meanwhile, the Islamic medieval world was growing larger and more powerful. After the death of prophet Muhammad’s in 632 CE, Muslim armies conquered large parts of the Middle East, uniting them under the rule of a single caliph. At its height, the Islamic medieval world was more than three times bigger than all of Christendom.

In the early part of the Medieval Period the level of material and cultural accomplishment was no doubt somewhat low. However, during the later part the Europeans greatly improved their standard of living. They also developed new institutions of learning and new modes of thought and reached very high standards in literature and art.

Instead, the Catholic Church became the most powerful institution of the medieval period. Kings, queens and other leaders derived much of their power from their alliances with and protection of the Church. Meanwhile, the Islamic medieval world was growing larger and more powerful.
