The sound waves are generated by a sound source, such as the vibrating diaphragm of a stereo speaker.

sound can travel through medium such as wood,air,water etc...Sound cannot travel through vacuum.The objects produce sound because of the vibration.There are three types of musical instruments:-1.stringed instruments,2. wind instrument ,3.membrane instrument
