let the present age of son be x

present age of meena = x+20

now, ten years hence,

age of son = x+10

age of meena = x+20+10 = x+30

now, A2Q, x+30 = 2[x+10]

x+30 = 2x+20

30-20 = 2x-x

10 = x

so, x = 10

so, present age of son = 10

present age of meena = 10+20 = 30

now, we will put in a second equation,

let x be the number of years ago when meena was 5 times her son

so, 30-x = 5 times 10-x

30-x = 5[10-x]

30-x = 50-5x

-x+5x = 50-30

4x = 20

x = 20/4

x = 5

so, meena was 5 times as old as her son, 5 years ago
