Indirect/Reported Speech refers to a dialogue being said/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: Santiago said,"This is the best spot." (Direct)

Santiago said that that was the best spot. (Indirect)

In the above example, when writing in indirect/reported form, the sentence changes according to its tense. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'tomorrow' changes to 'the next day', 'yesterday' changes to 'the previous day', 'today' changes to 'that day' and many other words will have to be made.

Meena said,"Wow! What a beautiful dress it is." (Direct)

Meena exclaimed and said that it was a beautiful dress. (Indirect)

Hope it helps :)
