Meenakshi took some of the observation of the motion of a car with respect to time. She plotted time graph of the observations on a paper. She showed it to her friend soniya and asked her to answer the following questions based on the graph
1. What type of motion is represented by OA, AB and BC?
2. What is the acceleration of the car?
3. What is the retardation of the car

Answer:

Given:

Time loops = 4, 10 and 16

To Find:

Motions represented in OA, AB and BC and the distance travelled from A to B.

Solution:

1. In the region OA - The velocity increases uniformly with time, thus it represents uniform acceleration.

In the region AB - The body moves with a constant speed, and hence moving with zero acceleration.

In the region BC - The velocity decreases uniformly with time, and represents a uniform retardation.

2. Acceleration of the body OA = 6-0/ 4-0

= 6/4 = 1.5m/s²

3. Retardation in the body = 6-0/16-0

= 6/16 = 1m/s²
