Let us assume, the present age of Meera's mother is x years and the present age of Meera is y years.

Given:

x = 4y ---------------1

Also given, after 5 years

x + 5 = 3 ( y + 5)
x + 5 = 3y + 15
x - 3y = 10 ------------------2

substitute the value of x from equation 1 in equation 2

4y - 3y = 10
y = 10

Therefore, x = 4y = 4 * 10 = 40 years

Answer - The present age of Meera's mother is 40 years and present age of Meera is 10 years

Answer:

Let the present age of meera be x years and present age of merra's mother be y years.

It is given in the question that meera's mother is four times as old as Meera :]

➴ y = 4x........(Equation [1])

After 5 years,

Age of meera = (x + 5) years.

Age of merra's mother = (y + 5) years.

➴ (y + 5) = 3(x + 5)............(Equation [2])

Now, Putting equation (1) in equation (2) we get :

➳ 4x + 5 = 3x + 15

➳ 4x - 3x = 15 - 5

➳ x = 10 years

Now, Putting the value of x = 10 in equation (1) we get :

➳ y = 4x

➳ y = 4(10)

➳ y = 40 years

Therefore,

  • Present Age of meera = 10 years.

  • Present Age of merra's mother = 40 years.
