Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

  • No. of notes Rs. 100 = x

Total notes = 25

So,

  • No. of notes Rs. 50 = 25 - x

Total amount = Rs. 2,000

According to the Question :

⇒ 100 (x) + 50 (25 - x) = 2,000

⇒ 100x + 1,250 - 50x = 2,000

⇒ 100x - 50x + 1,250 = 2,000

⇒ 50x = 2,000 - 1,250

⇒ 50x = 750

⇒ x = 750/50

x = 15

No. of notes Rs. 100 = 15

No. of notes Rs. 50 = 25 - x

⇒ 25 - x

⇒ 25 - 15

⇒ 10

No. of notes Rs. 50 = 10

Therefore,

  • No. of notes Rs. 50 = 10
  • No. of notes Rs. 100 = 15

Given :-

Meera went to a bank to withdraw rupees 2,000. She asked the cashier to give her Rs 50 and Rs 100 notes only. Meera got 25 notes in all.

To Find :-

Find how many notes of Rs 50 and Rs 100 she received?

Solution :-

Let

Number of Rs. 100 notes = x

Number of Rs. 50 notes = y

x + y = 25

x = 25 - y(i)

Total money = 2000

100x + 50y = 2000

Divide both sides by 50

(100x + 50y)/50 = (2000)/50

2x + y = 40

2(25 - y) + y = 40

50 - 2y + y = 40

-2y + y = 40 - 50

-y = -10

y = 10

Using 1

x = 25 - y

x = 25 - 10

x = 15

Hence

Number of Rs. 100 notes = x = 15

Number of Rs. 50 notes = y = 10
