Given :-

Meera's mother is four times as old as Meera.

After 5 years, her mother will be three times as old as she will be then.

To Find :-

Present ages of Meera and his mother

Solution :-

Let present age of Meera be x years

Then, the present age of Meera's mother will be 4x years.

After five years,

Meera's age will be = ( x + 5) years and her mother's age will be = ( 4x +5) years

According to the question :-

⟼ 4x +5 = 3 ( x +5)

⟼ 4x + 5 = 3x + 15

⟼ 4x - 3x = 15 -5

⟼ x = 10

Hence, the present age of Meera is = 10 years.

The present age of Meera's mother is = 4x = 40 years.

 {\underline{\underline{\large{\bold{\red{Solution:-}}}}}}

• Let the present age of Meera be x years.

• Meera's mother is four times as old as Meera. So, Her age will be 4x years.

• After 5 years the age of Meera will be ( x + 5 ) years.

• According to the question,

After 5 years, the age of Meera's mother will be = ( 4x + 5 ) years.

According to the question,

(4x + 5) = 3(x + 5) \\ \\ = > 4x + 5 = 3x + 15 \\ \\ = > 4x - 3x = 15 - 5 \\ \\ = > x = 10

Therefore, the present age of Meera's mother is (10 × 4 ) = 40 years.

\therefore The age of Meera and her mother is respectively 10 years and 40 years.
