Given: Total pizza eaten by Meeta and Ria = 5 / 6

           Meeta ate 3 / 12 of the pizza, we have to find the part eaten by Ria

Let us assume that Ria ate x part of the pizza

Then, the given condition can be mathematically represented as

         \frac{3}{12} + x =\frac{5}{6}

                 x=\frac{5}{6} -\frac{3}{12}

                 x=\frac{10}{12} -\frac{3}{12}

                x=\frac{7}{12}

Hence, Ria ate 7/12th part of the pizza .

Question:-

Meeta and Ria together ate ⅚ of a pizza.  If Meeta ate 3/12 of a pizza, how much pizza did Ria eat?

Answer:-

Given:-

The portion of pizza which Meeta and Ria ate together = \frac{5}{6}

The portion of pizza which Meeta ate = \frac{3}{12}

To find:-

The portion of pizza which Ria ate.

Solution:-

The portion of pizza which Ria ate

= The portion of pizza which Meeta and Ria ate together - The portion of pizza which Meeta ate.

= \frac{5}{6}-\frac{3}{12}

= \frac{10}{12} -\frac{3}{12} (LCM of 6 and 12 is 12)

= \frac{10-3}{12}

= \frac{7}{12}

∴ The portion of pizza which Ria ate = \frac{7}{12}
