Melting is conversion of solid into liquid...which forms a picture of expansion. But how can a solid melts and contract.?Please explain this concept of Melting leading to contraction of solid...they have given example of ice for this situation..

According to me the solid after getting converted into liquid contacts
Because liquid has less force of attraction so it occupies more space and thus it is said that solid after melting gets contracted.
