Melting of butter is a physical change. only the physical state of the matter is changed. The process is reversible.

Curdling of milk to curd is a chemical change. Chemical properties of milk changes as it turns into curd and milk cannot be gotten back. It is irreversible.

Explanation:

The melting of butter is a physical change as when the butter starts to cool down it comes back to its original form. Maybe its shape is changed but the properties and form is the same.

it is a chemical change because Because when curd is formed from milk ,milk loss its properties and new thing( curd ) is formed . the change is permanent in nature as milk cannot be formed from curd now that's why curdling of milk is a chemical change. The curdling of milk is a chemical change

it differs from each other by Melting.of butter can come to its original form but curding of milk can't back to its original form
