"melting of ice in arctic region", Is it a slow process or quick one.why?

It is a slow process because the surroundings are also ice and hardly any good sunlight reaches them. So the ice won't melt as fast as it does when you tske out ice cubes in a container at home.

It is a very slow process since specific heat as well as fusion constant is very high and thus more heat energy is required
