Melting of wax just reforms the shape and hence no new substance is formed and also it is reversible. Hence
Melting of wax is a physical change.
WHEREAS IN THE CASE OF
burning of wax some of the carbon and other substances in wax get converted into gas or sometimes ash (black spot after burning of a wax candle) so a new substance is formed but this can't be reversed as the gas has escaped and only the as can't make the wax again hence it is irreversible and thus a chemical reaction.
