When comparing melting point of NaCl and CuCl , we compare the both by their bond strength , i.e. Greater the bond attraction / bond strength , Higher will be the melting point. in another way , we can understand it by the bond dissociation energy , which also depends upon bond strength.

So,

  • When we talk about NaCl and CuCl , we know that , Sodium ( Na ) is more electrovalent than Copper ( Cu ) , or in simple terms Sodium ( Na ) has greater attraction than Copper ( Cu ) , and so , There will be greater attraction between Na - Cl bond as compare to the Cu - Cl bond.

That's why as the bond strength / bond dissociation energy / ionic bond / attraction force is strong or high in NaCl so , it is harder to melt it , if comparing with CuCl.
