melting point depends inversly upon polarization
and polarization depends upon ionic character
the ionic character of NaCl is more than that of AlCl3 because small cation and large anion favours covalency (fajan's rule ) and therfore AlCl3 is more covalent and hence it's melting point is less than NaCl.
