The maximum permitted strength of members of parliament in the Lok Sabha is 552.

This includes maximum 530 members to represent the constituencies and states, up to 20 members to represent the union territories  (both chosen by direct elections) and not more than two members of the Anglo-indian community to be nominated by the President of India.

There are 245 members in Rajya Sabha including the 12 nominees from the expertise of different fields of science, culture, art and history.
