My favorite childhood memory with grandmother
I have many fond memories with my maternal grandmother, The days spent with my maternal grandparents were the best days of my childhood
I got to stay with her first when I was around a year and half old, and being the eldest and the first grandson of the family, I enjoyed more love and privilege than most of the other cousins/grandchildren
When I was a year old, I would sleep less at night and would be awake first in the morning and my grandma would take me along with her to buy milk and other supplies
She would teach me to count the auto-rickshaws, the cattle that were passing by, She would show me the rising sun and the early morning sky
Growing up, we had our bickerings because I felt she did not understand and support my thought process, but I underestimated her love for me, and that is the big mistake I did, the egoistic “me” thought that she was impartial to me, but I was wrong
I was there with her when she became extremely bed-ridden, her legs had swollen a lot due to kidney malfunctioning, and it pained a lot, giving her sleepless nights, I would stay awake with her and massage her aching legs
As unfortunate I've always been, I was unable to be with her during her last moments on the death bed, and I regret this even today, every nanosecond of my life
I miss her a lot and this pain will be there till I'm alive.
