Answer:

Mendel crossed pure lines of pea plants. Dominant traits, like purple flower colour, appeared in the first-generation hybrids (F1), whereas recessive traits, like white flower colour, were masked. However, recessive traits reappeared in second-generation (F2) pea plants in a ratio of 3:1

Your Solution:

Mendel carried out various hybridization experiments on pea plants. He took pea plants with seven pairs of contrasting traits such as tall and dwarf plants, yellow or green seeds, smooth or wrinkled seeds, etc. and studied the inheritance pattern. He cross-pollinated true-breeding pea plants, recorded the inheritance of traits for several generations and proposed the laws of inheritance.

Mendel is known as the father of modern genetic because of genetic experiment with Pea or Pisum Sativum.

(a) The reason for the selection of pea plants for the genetic experiments are easy to grow in the garden. The flowers of pea plants are hermaphrodite, i.e flowers have bisexual characteristics. Easy to obtain pure breed plant through self-fertilization. The generation time of pea plants is less. They have excellent disease resistance and have an optimal rate of survival.

(b) The law of independent assortment states that the alleles of different genes are inherited independently within the organisms that reproduce sexually.

I hope you got it.
