\\

⍟ Time taken by Menka to complete the race = \dfrac{91}{5} seconds

⍟ Time taken by Shalu to complete the race = \dfrac{47}{4} seconds

\\

Now we need to find how much longer time did Menka take to complete the race.

\\

Time taken by Menka to complete the race - Time taken by Shalu to complete the race

\sf = \dfrac{91}{5} - \dfrac{47}{4}

 \sf = \dfrac{(4*91)-(5*47)}{20}

  \sf = \dfrac{364-235}{20}

  \sf = \dfrac{129}{20}

  \sf \approx 6.45\;seconds

\\

∴ Menka took \dfrac{129}{20} seconds (6.45 seconds) more to complete the race.

Correct Question:-

  • Menka and Shalu ran a 100 metre race . Menka took 91/5 seconds and Shalu took 47/4 seconds. How much longer time did Menka take?

 \\  \\

Given :-

  • Menka and Shalu ran a 100 metre race.
  • Time taken by Menka to complete the race { \boxed{{\bf{  \frac{91}{5} \: seconds }}} }\\
  • Time taken by Shalu to complete the race { \boxed{{\bf{  \frac{47}{4} \: seconds }}} }\\

 \\  \\

To Find :-

  • How much longer time did Menka take to complete the Race ?

 \\  \\

Solution :-

 \\

It can be seen that Shalu took less time to complete the Race. So, we will minus the time of Menka from the time of Shalu , to find how longer did Menka took to complete the race of 100 metre .

 \\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{ \boxed{{\bf{  \frac{91}{5}   \:  -  \:  \frac{47}{4}  }}}}\\

Now, take the LCM of 5 and 4 to make the bases same . LCM of 5 and 4 is 20.

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf {\sf{  \frac{91 \: \times  \: 4 }{5 \:  \times  \: 4}   \:  -  \:  \frac{47 \:  \times  \: 5}{4 \:  \times  \: 5}}}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{  \frac{91 \:  \times  \: 4 \:  -  \: 47 \:  \times  \: 5 }{20}   }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{  \frac{364\:  -  \: 235}{20}   }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{  \frac{129}{20}   }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{ \cancel \frac{129}{20}   }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\bf{ 6.45  }}\\

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

So, Menka took 6.45 seconds more then Shalu to complete the race .
