During pregnancy there is a high level of progesterone and other pregnancy hormones that prevent ovulation. This is because eggs will waste if there is continued ovulation. So nature prevents such wastage.

period stop during pregnancy because of change in hormones. There is no ovulation and no need for shedding the lining of uterus. But some women may get period for first few months and even get pregnant for second time, superfetation. Spotting During Pregnancy is common and has many reasons.
