Given :

  • Length of rectangular lawn = 38 m
  • Breadth of rectangular lawn = 25 m
  • Width of path = 2.5 m

To find :

  • The cost of gravelling the path at 120 per m.

Solution :

Finding the area of the rectangular lawn :-

★Area of rectangle = length × breadth

↛ Area of rectangle = 38 × 25

↛ Area of rectangle = 950 m²

Finding the area of rectangular lawn including the path :-

So,

Length of lawn including path

→ (38 + 2.5 + 2.5)

→ (38 + 5)

→ 43 m

Breadth of lawn including path

→ (25 + 2.5 + 2.5)

→ (25 + 5)

→ 30 m

Area of lawn including path

= 43 × 30 = 1290 m²

Finding the area of path :-

Area of path = Area of lawn including path - Area of lawn

⟼ Area of path = 1290 - 950

⟼ Area of path = 340 m²

Cost of gravelling the path per m = Rs. 120

Cost of gravelling the path 340

= Rs. (340 × 120)

= Rs. 40,800
