Mental health is important because it affects our overall life, how we spend time, psychological and emotional needs, and overall our social well-being. If we have a mental illness, it'll affect our routines, how we handle stress, choices in life, etc.
Example:
if you were having a good day/week and a boost of motivation hits you, it'll encourage you to be productive but suddenly a really bad day strikes and it shuts you down for the rest of the week, delaying your eating time, sleeping late, laying down for the whole day using your gadgets. It causes the body to force itself to change it's functions and uses (or whatever you call it) because of being unproductive and unmotivated for the week.
