the major iron ore belts in India are:-
▪ Orissa Jharkhand Belt ➡ In Odisha, high grade hametite Ore is found in Badampahar mines in the Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts. In the adjoining Singhbhum District of Jharkhand hematite Ore is mined in Goa and Noamundi.
▪ Durg Bastar Chandrapur belt ➡ It lies in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. very high grade hematite are found in Bailadila range of hills in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.
▪ Ballari Chitradurga Chikkamagaluru Tumakuru Belt ➡ in Karnataka has large reserves of iron ore the Kudremukh mines are located in Western Ghats of Karnataka. they are 100% export unit and are known to be one of the highest in the world.
▪Maharashtra Goa Belt ➡ it include the state of Goa and Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. Though, the ores are not of very high quality, yet, they can be efficiently used from this belt iron ore is exported through marmagao port.

The three features of the southernmost belt, Bellary-Chitradurga-Chikmaglur-Tumkur Belt:
1. The Kudremukh mines situated in the Western Ghats of Karnataka are 100% export unit.
2. It has one of the largest iron-ore deposits in the world.
3. The ore is transported as a slurry to a port near Mangalore through a pipeline.
Note :
India has abundant iron-ore deposits. Karnataka has the largest iron production in India. Apart from the above mentioned two, Maharashtra-Goa is also a major iron-ore belt in India.
