Advantages:

They can easily optimize manufacturing processes that require changes.

They can store multiple profiles and also the data of many systems.

Disadvantages:

However, their reliability is one of the main issues of smart sensors. If they get damaged or stolen, they can affect many systems badly.

Advantages:

1) Easy to design

2) High Reliability

3) Scalable Flexible system

4) Minimum interconnecting cables

5) High performance

6) Small rugged packing

Disadvantages:

1) In wired smart sensors, complexity is much higher as a consequence the cost is also high.

2) Required use of predefined embedded function during the design of the smart sensor.

3) It requires both actuators and sensors.

4) Sensor calibration has to be managed by an external processor.
