The following are the main features of Russian society:

• The Russian society's main occupation was agriculture. Till the Russian Revolt of 1917 majority of Russians were farmers, their main occupation being agriculture. It was also their only source of income.
• The society had a very low rate of industrialization, with a very population of industrial workers. Their condition was so poor that they often agreed to work under poor conditions for a very little wage.
• Despite agriculture being the main occupation, the condition of Russian agriculture was no better. The farmers could not even produce enough to feed themselves let alone sell in the market.
