After the cold war had ended, there have been major changes in the global power structure and the relations in between the nations. One of the big changes that happened was the collapse of USSR, giving birth to Russia as a successor state. The Warsaw pact came to an end.

(i) The end of Bipolarity— With the disintegration of the Soviet Union there was the end of the Cold War and this left open only two possibilities – either only one super power would dominate and create a unipolar system or different countries would come up on the world stage to bring a multipolar system. This signifies the end of Bipolarity.

(ii) Collapse of the Second World Power—The end of the Cold War and the disintegration of Soviet Union brought about a bi§ change in the world scenario. The collapse of the second world power, Le., USSR, and emergence of unipolar world with US as the sole superpower.

(iii) Fall of Berlin Wall— The Berlin Wall which symbolised the division between capitalist • and the communist world was demolished by the people on 9 November, 1989. This marked the beginning of the end of the communist

(iv) Unification of Germany— Another significant reality that changed the world politicswas the unification of Germany. Germany which was divided after the second world war got unified in the 1990s.
